BricsCAD is now an EDA option
The takeaway
It just got cheaper to use EDA tools.
The details
Companies who use Electronic Design Automation (EDA) CAD tools have a new low-cost option for software. CAD Design Software (CDS) of Santa Clara, California has integrated its suite of EDA tools with the Bricsys BricsCAD platform, a popular dwg-compatible design suite primarily sold with custom applications from a variety of third-party vendors.
With this collaborative integration, CDS solutions for Schematic and PCB design, Digital RF Microwave, Phased Array, LTCC/ HTCC and IC packaging become available to a wider range of Circuit Layout and Design Engineers users worldwide. Mario Rocha, CAD Design Software’s Sr. Product Manager noted, “CDS has worked closely with the BricsCAD team to ensure through compatibility with BricsCAD on par with current compatibility with alternate CAD products supported by CDS. This new compatibility brings the entire range of CDS tools for the RF and ceramic electronics, semiconductor packaging and CAM tools to BricsCAD users worldwide.”
Consilia Vektor comments
Everywhere we turn lately, we see evidence that 2D CAD is not a market in decline. AutoCAD sales are slowing, but the various competitors in 2D CAD are reporting modest increases. Perhaps the marketplace has finally realized dwg compatibility (primarily delivered by the Open Design Alliance) is a mature technology.
